Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I've been trying to wait until after Thanksgiving to pull anything Christmas out of the closet, but my unfinished projects from last year are calling me.  I'm getting the urge to finish the felt applique stocking and make some more ornaments.  I read Rebecca S.'s post on craft fairs and started wondering if anyone would buy any of this stuff that I make, and if the money I made would be worth the time spent sewing them.  I would like to make some extra money to stretch my savings but I've gotten used to having nights and weekends off and don't relish the thought of being a waitress or a checkout girl.

I thought about selling Avon, or misc. items on Ebay.  I've seen some of the stuff people sell as art and wonder if I could paint something silly and get some money for it, too.  What about jewelry?  Do people buy jewelry made from those beads you find at craft stores?  My daughter rolls her eyes at me and asks if we're really that desperate.  We're not desperate at all yet, but some income would not hurt.

Maybe it would be easier just to sign on with a temp agency.  I can quit those jobs when I get tired of them.  They expect that from temps.

I sell alot of stuff on ebay! It's a nice little sum for extras. But for jewelry and such, youn might try etsy. I could browse around there for days...

@f8hasit: What kind of things do you sell on ebay? I've never heard of etsy. I'll check it out.

@Smileyfreak: I do enjoy crafty things like that but have never tried jewelry. We'll see...

I can't get to grips with ebay - it's all too technological for me I think. Meant to say how great your photo was of finishing your marathon. And about missing your daughter being young - reading my recent posts on the exhausting myriad demands from my kids, you'll see my opinion on that issue! Not that I'm wishing their time away and not that I'm looking forward to them driving.... but... you know!

@Kate: You're just exhausted...it will get better. I actually stole that pic from the website. My finishing photo isn't available yet. :(

Hi Jen, I'm just catching up on everyone's blogs and just noticed you put a link to mine. Very cool! Thanks.
My mother-in-law made pretty good money selling her crafts at various fairs, but it was really a big job. I think you have to love doing it - you could try it once, you never know!

@Rebecca S.: I love making little craft projects. The difficulty will be in parting with them. I'll have to go visit a fair and see what kind of things are selling.
