My current obsession is the birding and wildlife trails of Texas. I'm trying to visit them all. There are 9 of them, some with over 100 sites. This may take a while...

Border Run
I was surfing the web and looking for prices on Symbicort. If I order from a Canadian pharmacy I can get a 90 day supply for 200 dollars. I'm paying that much for a 30 day supply right now. I know some of them are legit, but I'm not sure which ones. I have to do a little more research.
I need to check the prices in Mexico, too. If I could take a vacation to Cancun and come out ahead by picking up a few refills while I'm there, how cool would that be? I wonder how many inhalers I can legally bring across the border for personal use.
How is it that the pharmaceutical companies justify charging us so much more for our prescriptions? I knew there was a price differential, but this is ridiculous.

If I remember, there is a pharmancy in the Cancun airport... As for the prices we pay compared to other countries, I can't believe there are people who don't think we need health care reform.
I love living in Canada for the health care! Doctor's visits are free and through work I pay only $3.00 per RX. Thank goodness for that as I am on quite a few meds:)
You think you have it bad. A few years ago I got a ear-piercing phonecall from my mother in Spain. She was on a lie-low looking into the Sea, when her glasses fell off. She had been to an Optician a few weeks before and it cost her E600 for the test the script and the glasses. On the Balearic's, expensive at the best of times, E30. And this for the full test, the real one, not where they drop little bits of glass before your eyes.
Just a side comment, you have noted that most Pharma Co. are European. But they must love Republics.
@sage: I think we need healthcare reform, but I'm not sure the current bill is what we need. I'm holding my judgment until we see the final draft.
@Blissseeker: There are many medications that I can get for 4 dollars, but those are generics. There is no generic available for my prescription.
@Vince: Oh, no! That is why I only buy cheap sunglasses...I lose them everywhere.
Cheap sunglasses can really damage your eyes! You protect your eyes from the light so your pupils widen but you don't protect your eyes from UV rays so they can damage your retina even more now that your pupils are bigger.
However.... you just have to be resourceful.. If you find your meds cheaper abroad then buy them there ... :) After all you have to think of your well being first. :)
no, don't buy from other countries...who's going to support our politicians and lobbyists??? their well being is much more important than our health!
@Poppy: I don't buy them that cheap. I can get a good pair for 10 to 20 dollars that block out 100% of the UV rays instead of spending a few hundred on designer frames.
@Sarah: It should make the NAFTA lobbyists very happy.
Ok then.... :) I don't buy designer either but I'm very careful about the UV blockage. My pupils are huge due to my shortsightedness so I have to be...
