I don't know if I live in a community with higher standards or if it's just because these are new "luxury" apartments, but I've never lived anywhere with so many fire safety features. In my one-bedroom unit there are 4 of the typical round ceiling-mounted smoke detectors, sprinklers in every room including the garage, a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, and whatever that is in the picture on my bedroom wall. I never paid much attention until it lit up when I turned my heater on for the first time this season.
Oh, no. Please don't set off the sprinklers.
I sat waiting...dreading. Then the light turned off, apparently satisfied there was no real danger.
What is that thing? Another smoke detector? A heat sensor? Some sort of infrared? It almost seemed to be scanning the room with it's red light.

I assume if you see a spider you push the button thereby setting the unit on fire and killing the spider before it escapes.
oy, glad it did not go off....some of those will def do it when the heat first comes on...ack...what a mess that would be...
Oh no, you don't want those going off unnecessarily. Big hugs.
It’s a good thing that the heater didn’t set off the alarm – that’ll be a total pain! Well, there are really occasions when fire alarms set off even if there’s actually no fire. Even so, this must be taken seriously and REPORTED to the officials. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
Phew, that was close! Luxury buildings invest on these highly advanced smoke detection devices to prevent major property damage due to fire incidents. Those you saw in your room are probably photoelectric detectors that detect the presence of an object using a light transmitter (often infrared) and a photoelectric receiver. They are usually placed in large spaces where furniture and equipment are found.

I like the fact that the apartment you’re now living in is giving much attention to the security of the people and the building itself. And it seems they have reliable safety features in place because of what you had just experienced. I assure you, you’re in a safe and secure place. +Alexander Landrum
Installing fire alarms is the safest thing that you can do for your family.
Where To Get Fire Extinguishers in Las Vegas
When you’re looking for a new home, aside from the condition of the place, amenities, and other factors, you should also consider safety. The place should have fire alarms and other security devices, whether it is an owner occupied, a rental property, or any other residential building. Remember that a fire can happen any time, so it’s important that you have such efficient security systems.
