Day 22: Mystery Lizard Macro Monday

UPDATE:  I believe this is a green anole.  I forgot they had the ability to change colors.

I visited the Blue Elbow Swamp on my way home from Louisiana today, and found this guy hanging out on the boardwalk.

Is it a brown anole?  It doesn't look exactly like the others in Google search results.  I know at one time I had a field guide to reptiles, but I can't find it.

Who knew lizards had blue eyes?

The Macro Monday linky is up, so I'm using him as this week's entry.

Handsome gentleman. He seems to know it! Since I know nothing about lizards I really can't help identify him but it is a beautiful pic. Cathy

Okay...you had me pulling out my little "Golden Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians". I'm guessing you're right with the Anole call. The only other possibility I can see is a Spiny Lizard and it looks too smooth for that. I like them better when they're green.

he is a nice little fellow, I live in the UK so we don't see any lizards like this just walking around so I can't help with you naming him but he is rather lovely!

I believe this is a female anole. They have that cross stitch pattern on their backs.
