My First Attempt with Flip Video

Some of us went geocaching at Lake Livingston after we broke camp and I decided to try out my Flip mino HD.  There's a lot of room for improvement.  I cut out three minutes of shoes, ground, leaves, behinds...I was paying more attention to my GPS screen than what I was filming.  I thought I was recording sometimes when I wasn't, so there is no footage of the actual cache and what was inside.  I'll practice.

I thought HD would be sharper.  I don't know if it's because my computer system needs to be upgraded.  For optimum performance, I'm supposed to have the full version of Windows 7 (Starter not supported) and a Core Duo processor.  I have Windows 7 Starter and Atom.  It is working, but playback using the Flip software is jumpy and uploading to YouTube takes loooooooong.

Heck, I got carsick.

Here's a tip. Divide the screen into thirds, that's far easier for you and fits to the eye of any viewing. A third for the sky, or two thirds. Then you dont need to bother overmuch with content, that will automatically fit to the screen if you get it in the shot at all.

cool vid, whats that grey stuff hanging from the trees?
Ive got Win7 and Pinnacle HD vid editor and I used my HD video while Geocaching and my footage isn't any better that yours. Fixed it to the Yamaha, carried it...nothing seems to make it less jumpy or any better quality.
I dream of having such a big search team...

Geocaching is so much fun! Too bad you didn't capture the find though. LOL

The quality of the clip looks nice and sharp on my end. I bet it would be easy to hide something in all that Spanish moss!

Are you originally from TX? You don't have much of a TX accent...at least not like the folks I hear in East TX.

@slamdunk: I'm still trying to get my daughter to try it.

@Vince: Do you need a barfbag? I stole one from the airplane.

@Tempo: That is Spanish Moss.

@blueviolet: I'll make sure I focus more on the find next time. It's fun to see what people use as containers/camouflage.

@Kelly: Accents are not as thick in metropolitan areas, especially Houston. Maybe because we have such an international population? It gets thicker when I'm arguing...or tired...or drinking...It disappears almost completely when I'm traveling out of state.

@Brian Miller: At least 2 of my readers have started geocaching, and 2 more friends IRL. Too bad there's no referral bonus.

@sage: The moss was everywhere. I thought it was only supposed to grow on the north side of the tree. It is beautiful, though.

@Christiejolu: It got down into the 40's at night. Warmed during the day. Perfect camping weather.

@gayle: Thanks! I will do even better next time.

@John McElveen: Thanks. I'm glad the quality is good on your side. It must be my computer messing with the playback. I'll improve my aim and eventually get a better computer.
