Missing a Friend

In memorium..., originally uploaded by ~Misty~.

Apparently it's not just men that I talk to on the phone all the time but have only met once in real life that I get too attached to. I get attached to my blog friends, too. I know it's insane, but even though I haven't met you guys in person I feel like you're truly my friends. Some visit daily, some weekly, some every now and then...just like friends in the real world.

While I was traveling, I rarely posted and visited your blogs even less. If you didn't leave a comment on one of my infrequent posts, I may not have visited yours at all. I did miss you guys and am trying to get back to them all.

On my previous breaks, it was always Buffalodick who would post comments asking where the hell I was. He didn't this time. I thought maybe he finally gave up on me. A few days ago, I went to visit his blog and saw a message from his son that he had passed unexpectedly. What? When? How? W H Y ? ? ? !!!

He was one of my first and one of my most loyal followers. I don't think there were many posts he didn't read and comment on. I miss my blog buddy.

Since I have had an online journal then the blog, I have often wondered this. When one just doesn't show up, and their blog is never updated, you are only left to guess.

It is nice of bloggers to have a plan for some one to make an entry on the blog. In that case it was sad but good to know.

The one I know I lost, his daughter posted a final entry, "Dribbles by Chuck" It was "Chuck has left the building." and then she explained.

We all get attached.

I too have gotten very attached. That is very sad of your blogging friend, but at least you know. If I pass, I really don't think hubby would try to let yall know. I'm going to have to set up a plan with my sister.

So sorry for yours and the blogging worlds loss.

There can be many reasons for losing touch with fellow bloggers, from the most mundane like a PC failure or being too broke to afford the net any longer. Who knows what dramas fellow bloggers are going through. Those who become friends then disappear online can hurt as much as the loss of any friend. Sorry for Blogworlds loss...

As you say just like friends in the 'real world' we see blogger buddies come and go - so very sorry to hear about your friend, it is amazing how attached we can get to people we have never actually met and probably never will.

Yes, it was sad when I learned of his death--I was hopingto meet him as he wasn't far away--he did a chili cookoff only about 20 miles from here, but I was out of town that day and didn't get back in time to make it up there. He will be missed and I'll have to find other places to get recipes from as I made several of his creations for dinner.

I am so sorry to hear this.. It is great to find blogging friends. I have found and few and then they either stop blogging or I do not hear from them. I try my best to say Hello when I can. I am sending you hugs..

This is really sad.

I'm glad that at least there was an entry letting you know so you weren't just left wondering.

My condolences to all those who knew him.

I never thought about it until I read your post. Losing a friend you know personally - obviously sad. Losing a virtual friend - also sad.

It was sad news. And it brought it home to me that, since I have blog friends of all generations (from 15 to 76, that I know of), this is going to happen a lot over the years. Friends are friends, whether you've met them or not.

that's so sad!!!! it's so hard to find a blog buddy.... :(

it was nice of his son to bother letting people know, even if these people are met virtually.

Well, this just breaks my heart. It was sweet of his son to realize that his blogbuds would miss him. I've definitely noticed an ebb and flow to the blogging world...how often we get online and when we can devote more time to it.

I didn't know this particular blogger, but I'm sorry for your loss, Jen. I completely understand about the attachment you feel.
