Size Does Matter

Mossimo® Black Women's Halter Bikini Top - Purple M

...in swimsuits.  What a difference the correct size makes!  I bought a new one last night.  Three cheers for the retailers finally selling tops and bottoms separately!!!  I'm not so proud of the way I look that I'm going to take photos and plaster them all over the internet, but I wasn't embarrassed to put it on and head back out to the pool today.  In fact, I feel pretty darn confident wearing it.  That's not me, that's a link to the same suit I bought at Target.  I've got a few more curves than she does.

I didn't get much reading done this time because I was busy chatting with a new neighbor.  We started talking about our kids and when I said mine was 17, her jaw literally dropped.  "I thought you were 20."  That never gets old.  "You look like a college student."

"I am a college student, but I'm not 20."

I should have said, "Let's get together and use these grills.  I've got some new recipes to test."  Oh, well.  There's always tomorrow.  I need to spend more time at the pool and meet people who are home during the day.

I decided that my new running skort and long running bra top is also my new bathing suit for the beach. Just a wee bit more coverage than yours, but I feel comfortable in it. The last time I wore a bikini top was when I was 30! You are doing very well.
I looked up bluebonnets. Very beautiful. We call our variety up here, lupins (derived from the latin name for them). They like dry climates which is why they grow mainly in the dry interior of our province. I miss them!

Okay we are looking for photos!!!!

It is nice to meet someone with common interests. I'm still waiting for someone to say I look 20! Of course, since I can't hear, I would miss the statement, and then I would not get a chance to talk to the blind person! LOL

I am sure you look much younger than you are. YOu seem to keep in shape.
Take care and enjoy the swim suit.

Why did it take so long to be able to buy the tops and bottoms separately?

If someone told me I looked 20 I'd smack them with a big ol' smackin' kiss!!

It is always better to compliment at the edge of believability. For while someone might themselves think they were the incarnation of James Dean and the reality that they look like a beerguted 40something biker. There would be little point saying they look like Dean. But you could get away with saying had Dean lived another 10 years he might look like them.
Women can be simultaneously easier and harder. Like the photo above, to me the bra is to big, sorta like she was intending to grow into the thing like when your parents bought you clothes when you were a kid. So how do you comment/compliment when asked.

Congrats on finding a swimsuit. Searching for the right one can be very stressful!

I haven't been mistaken for 20 in years....but then I have three kids age 20-30!

Nice! I still get a kick when I get carded. Although I think my kids are getting older so when I have them in tow they just don't even bother asking anymore. *sigh*

I am hoping for the day someone thinks I'm only 3 years older than my daughter! You're also lucky to have more curves than the bikini model in the photo. I have less. :( lol

@Brian Miller: I do love them!

@Jingle: I can pull off a funny every once in a while.

@That corgi: More and more, especially at casinos.

@Rebecca S: I bet that makes a cute swimsuit. It's probably made of the same material.

@jack69: I posted more pictures on my previous blog and it was a mistake. I may post something occasionally.

@Unknown Mami: I don't know why they used to insist we should be the same size on the top and the bottom. Just like they used to only sell pants for women whose hips were the same size as their waist...definitely NOT me.

@The Blue Zoo: I'll try that next time and see what happens.

@Vince: You know models aren't allowed to have boobs. Fishing for compliments is a sign of insecurity and I'm not sure anything you say would be right. I tend to change the subject real quick when someone starts that with me.

@Kelly: The sunglasses and the hat helped to hide the wrinkles. I think I look more like 30, which is still good considering I'm 41.

@buffalodick: You're well broken in and comfortable...like a favorite pair of jeans...

@Michelle Pixie: Getting carded is nice sometimes...but when they stare for 10 minutes it can be annoying.

@blueviolet: I do like my curves. I didn't always.

@John McElveen: I don't blame the mass merchandisers...they are a reflection of society...if it didn't sell, they wouldn't put it out.

I haven't worn a two piece since my early twenties! It's great that you have the confidence to wear one and are making new friends.

@Heather: I don't look like the swimsuit models...but I don't think that's required.
