Giveaways

Up until now I've been avoiding the giveaways.  I don't think there's anything wrong with hosting them, I just didn't start blogging to enter the modern version of sweepstakes, which was my first impression.  Now that I've taken a closer look, I may have changed my mind.  They are not giving away plastic swords.  I'm not receiving a genuine CZ diamond along with a special offer to have it set in a beautiful ring for the ultra low price of $499.99 if I act within the next thirty days.  They are giving away some nice merchandise.

I've been trying to teach myself to cook recently and trying out new recipes.  Nobody sells exactly half a pound of ground turkey or 6 ounces of dried cranberries.  I've been guesstimating.  I've been thinking about buying one of those kitchen scales, but didn't want to spend the money because I was debating if I really need it.  Then I stumbled upon Blueviolet's EatSmart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale Review and Giveaway.  I believe I might like to own something like that, especially if I don't have to pay for it.

I follow the if-I'm-hungry-I'm-gonna-eat-dammit diet plan so I won't be using it to count calories, but for those of you that do it looks like this scale could be of help.  Head on over to Blueviolet's to read the review, enter the contest, or purchase the scale from Amazon for $25.

You do not need one for cooking, but you do for baking for someone somewhere found that exact ratio to get the best.

A novel view of giveaways, I must confess I'd never thought about them in that way.

I have a blogger buddy (I call her that even though she doesn't actually blog herself, just visits and comments on a lot of blogs)who does so well on these 'competitions' and giveaways.

Good luck! I once won a tin of candy pecans! They were good. I also have received a few books as gifts and many offers to review books. The scale could help you shed weight in your backpack :)

Seems I am always in the wrong place when there are give aways. Some folk swear I missed it when they were giving out brains. I know that is an old joke, but then I am old.
Good luck with the cooking and I like the diet.

I've been amazed at the number of giveaways, especially books, since I've branched out in my blogging.

I just come over on my normal visit and lookee what I see! You're too sweet to mention it. Good luck!

I don't have a ton of time to enter them myself, but I try. I like reading and commenting on personal posts more but if I have time I like to enter people's giveaways too, and I think I do pretty well. I win fairly frequently. :)

Maybe I should have written I just came, because that sounds like I'm from a grammatically bad, bad place. LOL

there are lots of good giveaways out there. I've hosted a few just for the fun of it and participate in a few on blogs, but there was one that I was following for a bit who did reviews of baby/children stuff since she had young ones at home and boy did she give away some awesome things (usually would get the product she was doing a review on with an extra one to give as a giveaway. it was amazing, strollers, swings, you name it)

good luck!

@Vince: I had heard you need to be more exact in baking. I'm trying cookies soon...

@Petty Witter: It seems you'd have better odds since there are fewer entries than those mail-in sweepstakes. Maybe I'll win something, too.

@sage: When you shop online for gear, it gives you the carry weight, making it easier to compare. I think I did ok on the weight.

@jack69: There was a study in which they asked overweight people why they eat and heard: "Because I'm bored." "Because I'm depressed." "Because I'm lonely."

Skinny people gave them strange looks and said, "Because I'm hungry."

@Kelly: They're everywhere!

@blueviolet: I do like the personal journals best, but I'm enjoying the diversity here. It's a blog. Grammar and spelling don't count.

@That corgi: How do I get on the sponsors radar? I'd be happy to review and giveaway outdoor gear.

@John McElveen: I think your turn is due. Good luck!

I've won a couple things, but I think it was because only five people entered the contest. My odds were very good.
Haven't taken the time to host a give-away; don't know if I want to or not, but it's good to know that I can if I want to.

Hi thanks for stopping by. I'm now following you, but I just wanted to say the give-aways are just part of blogging to me like playing a game with your friends is all. May the best man/woman win. I do give-aways, and I also get the product I'm reviewing for free, that's the fun part. ~hehe~ Well, hope you stop by again some time. Have a great weekend.

@Anita: Free is my favorite 4 letter word. If it's something useful, I'll participate.

@ak: If you completely deprive yourself of something it just makes you crave it more. Better to treat yourself once in a while.

@Xmas Dolly: I'd host a giveaway in exchange for getting a new superlight backpacking tent for free...HINT...(if any outfitters are paying attention).

@alady's life: I would not have the energy to function if I stuck to their point system. I know some people have had a lot of success, but it's not for me.
