You've Got Mail

Photo from Flickr.
Pastel darker, originally uploaded by key lime pie yumyum.  Mailboxes in Key West.

Last night my daughter asked me if I would go check the mail and see if her contacts arrived. I handed her the key and said she could go herself.

"I'm afraid to go out there at night," she said. "Will you go?"

"No. I'll check in the morning if you don't want to go tonight."

"But my dad is going to get mad because he wants to know now if my contacts are here yet."

That man does not have any control over what I do and when I do it. I am not going to check the mail so the idiot doesn't get mad...

Nice photo! Which color is your mailbox?

Huh, that's some principles. ;)

Others comtrol your time? Oh, gee do I know how that feels! You didn't go? GOOD FOR YOU!

@sage: Mine (not in the photo) is ugly, boring gray. One day when I have my own house, I'm going to paint mine purple.

@Poppy: Principles or the red hair? Either way, I ain't budging!

@Minka: They try.

LOVE the photo - such vibrant fun colors! A feel good pic for sure! (And sorry about the contact issue ~ way to stand your ground!)

@buffalodick: What???

@Christiejolu: Wish I could teach my daughter to be like us. She went out and got the mail...

@Ollie: I loved it, too. Of course the Conch Republic would have fun mailboxes.

A-da-girl. And there is no harm training the youngster that she does not have to ask how high. I suspect if what was in the post box was of real importance she would have lit the way with sparks from her heels.
Mind you, as the little scamp was trying to manipulate you, you should ground her for a week for doing it so badly.

I LOVE that photo! And good for you sticking to your guns.

@Vince: It was the asshole using her to manipulate me. I don't punish her for his actions. I wish she'd stand up to him.

@Rachel Cotterill: Thanks. I know it's something silly, but it annoys me that people think they get to order me around. Ask politely and you might get a different response.

Ah Jen that might be true, but realistically she is your daughter.

I wouldn't have gone either! Why did she wait so late in the day anyway?

Jen said...

@Heather: I guess she just wasn't that excited about getting the mail. It's not like it couldn't have waited until the next day.

If I was you, I wouldn't have checked. If I was your daughter, I would have checked.

Jen, I wouldn't have checked either. Btw purple mailbox is such a great idea :)

@Unknown Mami: If I was a concerned father, I would not send my daughter out in the dark to check the mail when it can wait until the morning. I should have forbid her to go.

@yonca: I would paint my house purple if they'd let me. Maybe I'll have to live in the Caribbean where they do that.

Beautiful mailboxes. Amazing what paint can do. Maybe he needs a little paint also? Happy Easter.
