For some reason, I was craving a cheesburger last night. I bribed my daughter to run and get it for me. I gave her 20 dollars and said she could keep the change. Someone hit her. She's okay, but shaken up. All because I wanted a cheeseburger. I'm a horrible mom.

Jen, I'm truely sorry for your kid. But it was not your fault in any way. Over her life so far you may very well have done many things that would give cause to her spending a fortune on a Dr Phil or even visit him on the TV, but this situation certainly is not one of them.
Oh! That's a terrible thing to have happened. I'm very sorry for your daughter. And that's too much to pay for a cheese burger!
Ask her not to take it too hard. After all, this world, beautiful though, is not an easy place to live in!
i really hope you know that you wanting a cheeseburger had nothing to do with her getting hit. these things happen. i am glad she is ok.
There is nothing selfish about wanting a cheeseburger. There is nothing that can stop bad things from happening in the world in which we live.
Did she get hit, like punched, or hit by a car, or in a fender bender driving your car?
Oh, honey! YOU are not the person that hit her! God, mommy-guilt is a powerful thing...isn't it? You would feel just as concerned/bad had it happened in any other way...PLEASE don't beat yourself up over it!
And remember this: It could have been So. Much. Worse.
Right??
I agree with everyone - how were you to know? But I still can relate, as a mom, to how you are feeling about it, (despite Vince's comforting thoughts:)
Unless you had a crystal ball you didn't consult, you are not to blame for anything...
You never know -- your little human craving might have been the very thing that gave her the experience she needed to avoid a collision (a worse one) in the future. Having those scary moments are SUCH an important part of becoming a safer driver -- who knows, tomorrow she may avoid a tragedy because of your human-ness. So...it's all good :-) Thanks for the comment on my blog!
I'm sooo sorry that that happened Jen :(
I hope that she is ok?? I'm sure everything will be all right and that this will bring you two closer as mother and daughter!!
Aion
Hey, you could have been wanting some heroin. Or like me, nicotine. If that's all you're feeling bad about...
I just read a bunch of your recent posts. I couldn't stop reading them. You've written some very interesting comments.
Don't be silly. You were not to blame for that. I hope she's okay.
Thanks for all of your comments. Logically, I know I'm not to blame...
I am so glad she is ok..Don't blame yourself but I understand how you feel because I often feel the same way.
You're not a horrible mom, but I'm sorry about your daughter's misfortune. Be kind to yourself and I think I'll not send out anyone for lunch...
