(EZRA) 22/52: The rain cleanses the world, originally uploaded by ilovestrawberries (Carmi).
I woke up yesterday morning to the sound of rain. I snuggled under the covers and enjoyed the sound of the raindrops hitting the roof a little while longer before I dragged myself out of bed to start my day.
A few hours later, it seemed the storm had passed and my daughter was preparing to join a friend for a bike ride. Then we heard thunder. She decided to go anyway. "She'll learn," I thought to myself.
The rain was coming down in sheets now, so I called my daughter to find out where she was. "We're under a bridge." There is a section of the hike / bike path that goes under the main road to a shopping center. My bike rack holds two bikes and I offered to go get them, but she said they thought they could make it back during the next break in the rain. About an hour later, she walked in the door soaking wet.
Today was even wetter than yesterday. We are under a flash flood and a tornado watch, but they did not cancel school. They did not even cancel after school programs, so my daughter is in her Cosmotology late lab. It makes me very nervous when she has to drive in this weather. I hope it doesn't rain like this tomorrow, or it will flood. I'm safe in my third floor apartment, but I worry about the roads.

It seemed to come out of nowhere, didn't it?!
Hope y'all avoid flooding!
wow. did not know there was one out there either..stay dry and safe
Rain is lovely, but not when there are people and animals to worry about outside!
P.S. The chili you noted about sounds delish! I love chili season. And yep, I was talking about the Google bubbles/balls/thingies.
Hope you all are safe. After all the storms the passed couple years I get scared when the wind blows. Your daughter is in Cosmetology school? Cool! I'm a Hairstylist for ove 16 years now.
Both of you stay safe, please.
Inclement weather is always a threat to our safety especially our children.
May the coming days give you a better weather condition Jen!
Thanks so much for dropping by in my space! loved it! :)
We all learn, some do not remember but at best we are all poor weather prophets. haha
Glad all she got was wet.
Take care
It is that time of year and we all have to be careful, these storms can turn on a dime.
......:-)Hugs
Still the rain will cool things down a tad, won't it.
Southern Australia has just had storms and widespread flooding, cant complain though..we needed the water so bad. I got caught out twice riding the Yamaha...I'd forgotten just how much rain can sting.
Although rain poses many dangers, I still love it for the cool weather it brings and the Cody warmth of sleeping in on a rainy day-that is, when the rain isn't severe enough to cause a flood. Interesting post!
Is it possible we are catching the tail end of it here in the UK? It has constantly rained with severe winds for the last few days.
Good luck with all that yucky, yucky weather.
I live in Minnesota - I feel your pain come December.
Stay dry and safe. Crazy that they didn't cancel anything.
It has cooled down to 86 and will be 74 tonight.
I remember being out in the bands of rain that come from tropical storms... Stay dry... As for the sounds of rain, you can't beat a tin roof, but insulation has ruined that, keeping out the sound with the heat... I love rain on a tin roof
Stay safe...I will be thinking of you!
I love rain but not when it comes with flooding and hurricanes! We just got missed by Earl last week. Fingers crossed that Hermine moves on quickly.
yes, rain and storms can be wild for sure. I hope all goes well for you and your daughter.
Flash flooding and tornadoes. I'm glad I live somewhere I only have to worry about snow.
Even though I miss and love rain to bits, this sounds a little bit too much of it ... a safe road ahead for her. A quiet and peaceful Thursday for you all.
We're pretty dry here in the southeast, send some our way
Safely esconsced in a part of Canada that does not get hurricanes, only brutally freezing temperatures for 8 months of the year, I wonder which I'd rather: torrential rainfalls or freezing my boobs off?
Hermine gave us 7+ inches, and a leak around the chimney. The Hill Country needed the rain but I'll be glad when this one is gone and I can get the roof fixed.
It's pretty dry here. I love riding my bike in the rain, just like your daughter. One time, I had to park under the bridge because of the storms. I stayed there hungry for about 2 hours. I haven't ridden in the rain since then..ha. I learned!
All my love.
LOVE!
Dallas had tornadoes. After Allison and now Hermine you will never again hear me say, "It's just a tropical storm (as opposed to a hurricane)."
I hope you get your roof repaired soon, Kathleen.
I was thinking the same thing! We had some light rain and then all of a sudden they were talking about Tropical storm Hermine. I didn't even know there was a threat of one coming in, till it was here! Unpredicable Texas weather! One day hot, the next nice and then WHAM a gully washer!
So glad yall were safe and undamaged.
