I'm excited to finally be allowed a campfire again. The drought is not over, but at least we have gotten some rain and we have a break from the severe fire threat. I was beginning to think I would be telling my future grandchildren stories about when it used to rain in Texas...or when the entire state went up in flames.

Looks like a great way to ring in the New Year! I, too, wanted to avoid the drunks on the road. I much preferred to be the drunk who fell asleep at 12:05 AM on the 1st.
Our community provided the fireworks show that had been originally planned for July 4th and cancelled due to a burn ban.

It's the fireban period here in OZ, every year from October through to April we may not light any kind of fire outdoors (except gas BBQ's) not that you'd want a fire in summer here.. Not that you'd want to camp in the incredible Summer temperatures we have here either. I do grab a few days here and there when we have a cool spell but thats rare to say the least. I've been trying to get away this week but with temps well above 100 it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
