Have you checked out Blogger's new stats feature? It shows which blogs are getting pageviews and how they were referred. Google is sending traffic to my blog! The Canyon Lake Gorge post from November 2009 is still getting noticed as is my Galveston Lost Oaks post from May of this year. I've been saying I want to be a travel writer. I need to start doing more of those posts. The best part is those were local travel posts that didn't require a lot of driving or money.
Wouldn't it be awesome if one day my little hobby paid the rent?!

I love taht slogan: "Problems are opportunity in Disguise".
I think it is also true. According to our attitude. It appears you live with that attitude.
Sounds good but I am not sure I have the right attitude for myself. For you it sounds great.
I didn't even know Bloggers has a new stats feature! :D
I need to check out those new features!
It's accessible via the Dashboard. Look for Blogger in Draft under Tools and Resources near the bottom. Click on it and you'll see a tab for stats the same place new posts and edit posts live.
That's a pretty cool feature. I'll go check it out right now!
yeah, that would be really cool if it did...did not know about this...
Sorry about the prior delete. I wanted to add something...
You can also install Google Analytics (free) and get detailed stats including geographics. http://www.google.com/analytics/sign_up.html . I'm surprised at how many visitors come to Hill Country Mysteries from search engines and referral sites, and which posts continue to pull over time.
I do occasional travel articles for the San Antonio Express News. I made the connection and got the invitation to write because the travel editor occasionally looked at my blog and liked the local travel blogposts. For what it's worth, this is one of the articles: http://www.mysanantonio.com/life/travel/72_hours_or_less/72_Hours_or_Less_Comfort.html. And this is the original blogpost: http://hillcountrymysteries.blogspot.com/2009/07/comfort-texas.html.
It's fun work but the payday is tiny at the newspaper level. Maybe it's better for magazines...
PS At the entry level, the writer supplies photographs too.
nope I haven't as of yet seen this status feature! but it sounds interesting!
thanks for the notice! i'll be looking now!
hehehe...

Yes I got a mail from the goo people about it. I've had visits from Russian people in the last week. And for some reason Malaysia also.
Thats great news Jen, I hope your dream comes true. Theres no one like a local to know whats worth seeing locally eh!
Ive always though I lived in a crappy desert... only lately do I see that others see my local area as something worth seeing. (silly buggers)
I didn't know about that feature either. I'll have to check it out.
It would be great to have our passions pay the bills. One never knows....
that is awesome!
Unless credited to someone else and / or noted that it's from Flickr, the photos on this blog are mine. I love taking photos. It would be an excuse to buy a better camera.
Thanks to you and everyone else who visited your site and left links - I shall be sure to check them out.
