Valentine's Day...I have no Valentine.  I haven't even accepted a date since I returned from Hawaii.  I've been asked, but I wasn't able to get excited about starting something new.  Dating for the sake of dating doesn't seem fun right now, either.  I'm just not in the right frame of mind.

    I think all the "be my valentine" business is over-rated.

    St Valentines day is the greatest triumph of the marketing profession since, well, ever. And how do they manage it. But instilling a sense of entitlement into the average woman together with a visceral fear of not having anyone to beat upon for that day.

    @Vince: Hallmark is guilty as charged, but they didn't limit it to Valentine's day and they can do it because we let them. There is no need to spend a lot of money to show someone you think they are special.

    As far as the sense of entitlement thing - I always thought both should participate. Have you never had a girlfriend who did something special for you?
